Āl ʿImrān, verse 14

The Quran is here until the end of time. So is what it calls wealth.

Gold, silver, horses, cattle and tilled land are named in one verse. Iron, copper, water and trade run through the rest of the book. Prices move. The value stays. This is a portfolio built on that belief, and screened the halal way.

01The belief

The verse behind the portfolio

Āl ʿImrān 3:14 names the wealth people love. Each one is a sector below.

Made attractive to people is the love of desires: women and sons, heaped-up hoards of gold and silver, fine branded horses, cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of this worldly life, and with Allah is the best return.

Named in the Quran. Valuable until the end of time.

Prices rise and fall. What the Quran calls wealth stays wealth.

02The method

Four rules we invest by

Each rule comes from the Quran.

Rule 1
Al-Baqarah 2:275

Trade, never interest

No margin, no leverage, no interest-bearing cash. Nobody can force a sale, so a fall can be waited out.

Rule 2
At-Tawbah 9:34

Hold it, pay its zakat

Gold and silver owe 2.5% zakat a year above nisab (85 g gold, 595 g silver). Budget for it from day one.

Rule 3
An-Naḥl 16:5

Own what pays you

Rent from land, dividends from miners, milk from the herd. Income lets you hold through a falling price.

Rule 4
Yūsuf 12:47

Buy in the lean years

Yusuf stored in the seven good years and released in the seven hard ones. We flag good businesses in a lean year.
